Prof Samuel .S. Taiwo

/ Consultant Clinical Microbiologist (LAUTECH)

Samuel Taiwo is a Professor of Medical Microbiology at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and a Consultant Clinical Microbiologist to the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, Nigeria. He currently chairs the Clinical Microbiology laboratory and the hospital Infection Prevention and Control Committee (IPCC), as well as serve as the team lead for the hospital Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme (ASP). He is a member of the National Antimicrobial Stewardship Working Group (NASWOG) of the Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Society of Nigeria (CLIMIDSON). He has previously participated in a steering committee that produced the national infection control policy, and served in a technical working group that developed tool/protocol and training curriculum for surveillance of surgical site infections (SSIs) in Nigeria. He currently leads an ongoing hospital ASP quality improvement project in collaborations with the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association (CPA), UK and the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC). He is also the current Editor-in-Chief of the African Journal of Clinical and Experimental Microbiology.
